BEGINNINGS

The Gospel Light Bible Institute had its beginnings in the surrender of Jim Labolito to the call to the ministry in 1986. At that time, although Pastor O'Neal recommended some Bible- believing schools, Brother Labolito did not know where God wanted him to prepare for the ministry. The pastor offered to tutor him while he was trying to determine which school to attend. After studying for about three years, Brother Labolito was called to pastor the Fernwood Baptist Church of Tallahassee, Florida. During the years of his study, other men also surrendered to God's call to the ministry. These men, as well as other Christians who just wanted extra Bible classes, formed the beginning classes of Gospel Light Bible Institute.

PURPOSE

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

The purpose of the Institute is to provide training for future or present church leaders: pastors, evangelists, deacons, Sunday School teachers, etc. Anyone, male or female, who desires extra training in the word of God, is encouraged to attend.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

The doctrinal position of the Institute is the same as that of the rest of the church. The church has no statement of faith as such, other than the text of the Authorized Version 1611 King James Bible. We are Bible-believing, fundamental, non- charismatic, non-Calvinistic, separatist, and dispensational.

ADMISSION

Admission is limited to members of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Students moving from out of town must unite with Gospel Light Baptist Church and remain active members while studying at the Institute. Students will get "hands-on" experience in addition to classroom instruction.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

As a ministry of Gospel Light Baptist Church, there is no charge for these classes. The pastor's time and effort in teaching and the use of the church facilities are donated in an effort to further the Lord's work. Students moving from out of town will be responsible for securing their own employment and housing, although the pastor and members will do everything in their power to help. The student will be required to buy his own textbooks, but they are few, amounting to only about one per year.
