this note, and go to our website: JESUS BROUGHT US OUT, THAT HE MIGHT BRING US IN By Michael D. O'Neal Pastor, Gospel Light Baptist Church Albany, Georgia Scripture Reading: Deut. 6:20-23 Text: Deut. 6:23 Deuteronomy 6:23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers. Introduction: Join me tonight in looking once again for the Lord Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. If you have never done that, may I remind you that it was a command of the Savior: John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. This is especially true of the books of Moses, such as Deuteronomy, for Jesus said in the same context: John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. I believe that ALL of the 66 books of the Bible testify of Jesus Christ! God brought Israel out of the land of Egypt to bring them into the land of Canaan! God brought them out of the land of BONDAGE to the land of BLESSING! John 10:2-3 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. I. JESUS BROUGHT US OUT OF DARKNESS TO BRING US INTO LIGHT 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: In type, Egypt, a country in AFRICA, should remind us of the state of the lost. Africa is known as "the dark continent." Remember the plague of darkness that God put upon the Egyptians. Lost people are blinded by sin but especially by Satan (2 Cor. 4:3-4) A. Darkness denotes ignorance (Rom. 2:19) B. Darkness denotes iniquity (Rom. 13:12) II. JESUS BROUGHT US OUT OF DEATH TO BRING US INTO LIFE John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; A. By the Spirit B. By the scriptures C. By the supernatural III. JESUS BROUGHT US OUT OF THE DUNGEON TO BRING US INTO LIBERTY John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. I like that verse about our liberation in the old hymn, "It is Well With my Soul." A. The Lord appeared B. The Light came on C. A loosening occurred 1. From the dungeon 2. From danger 3. From darkness 4. From doom and gloom 5. From demons 6. From destruction and disaster 7. From disease IV. JESUS BROUGHT US OUT OF THE DEVIL TO BRING US INTO THE LORD Luke 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? Pharaoh in the Exodus account is a type, or prophetic picture, of Satan. In light of that, A. We were in the devil's family B. We were in the devil's forces C. We were in the devil's folly But now we are in CHRIST (2 Cor. 5:17)!!! V. JESUS BROUGHT US OUT OF DISCOURAGEMENT TO BRING US INTO LAUGHTER Psalms 126:1-3 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. 3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. A. Now are hearts are happy B. Now our happiness is heavenly! 1. Our JOY is JESUS! 2. Our GLADNESS is GOD! 3. Our LAUGHTER is the LORD! 4. Our BIRTHDAY is our BORN-AGAIN day! 5. Our CHRISTMAS day is EVERY day! 6. Our FUN is the FELLOWSHIP of the saints! 7. Our greatest desire is the return of Christ, to raise the dead, to rapture the living, to remove us from this world, reunite us with loved ones, for a residence in the mansions of the Father! GLORY!
