THE SODOMITE SATELLITE CHANNEL CONTROVERSY

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:16-32

Text: Romans 1:26-27

Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Introduction: Recently Fox News has carried reports that Showtime and MTV are combining efforts to start a 24-hour satellite channel for gays and lesbians.

In this message I am going to refer to them as "sodomites," which is the Bible word for these perverts, although I may occasionally refer to them as queers, an appropriate word due to the fact that what they do, according to our text is NOT NATURAL.

If anyone asks, every member of Gospel Light Baptist Church should be in opposition to this new channel. I'm sure that you are, but I want to help you get ready for the liberal, Satanic persuasion and arguments that you're going to face.

I. REASONS TO OPPOSE THE CHANNEL

Why are we against it?

1 Kings 15:11-12 And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father. 12 And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

A. Sodomy is sinful

• Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
• It is a sin against Christ. It is disobedience to His word.
• It is a sin against creation. It is contrary to nature (see our text).
• It is a sin against a country. In a moment I will show you from scripture how a people can be removed from their land because of tolerating and practicing this sin.

B. Sodomy is spreading

• 1 Kings 14:24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
• Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
• It came out of the closet in recent years.
• It came into the community, into the country, and even into some churches, who are now ordaining sodomites to the ministry!

C. Sodomy is sickening

• It is sickening to the Lord:
• Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
• It is sickening to a land:
• Leviticus 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

D. Sodomy is suicidal

• Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
• God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their promotion, protection, and practice of this sin. Do you think that American is going to get away with it?
• Sodomy is not an "alternative lifestyle"; it is an awful DEATH- style!!!

II. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPPOSING THE CHANNEL

1 Kings 22:45-46 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 46 And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.

A. Protest it

• I am not recommending that we get involved in carrying placards in picket lines and get distracted from soul-winning.
• However, we can write the management of these stations. We can write our newspapers. We can write our President, Congress, and governors.
• If enough people will protest this promotion of perversion loudly enough, they will back off.

B. Pray about it

• Prayer changes things! Pray!
• Pray for our leaders!
• 1 Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

C. Pursue sinners with the gospel

• Keep winning souls!
• Everyone we can win to Christ will be led by the Spirit to oppose this hellishness!

D. Preach the truth

• Don't be ashamed to quote Leviticus 18:22 to everybody!
• Our message to lost people has not changed, but we do want to be ready to give the truth to anyone we can!

E. Protect our children

• Get your children out of the government school system!
• Get the television out of your child's room!
• Get the Internet out of your child's room!
• Don't let your child be playing and spending the night with unsaved people!
• In this wicked world, you aren't going to ever worry about sheltering your children too much; if anything, you are going to allow them to get under the WRONG influence too OFTEN!

Let's stand for God against sin!

Let's promote pure marriages and let's protest perverted madness!

We had better get back to the Bible, or we are going to go back to the jungle!
